What exactly is free, and is there a catch?
The free teacher account gives you full access to Lessi's lesson planning, scaffolding, and progress check tools — no feature restrictions, no credit card, no expiration date tied to a trial period. The free tier is designed for individual teachers evaluating fit. School and district licensing unlocks team collaboration, admin oversight, and implementation support, which is what you'd move to if your school decides to roll it out more broadly.
Do I need IT approval or admin sign-off to sign up?
Not for the individual free account — you can sign up and start using Lessi with your own professional information without involving IT or admin. You won't enter any student names, IDs, or PII during setup. If your district has a strict vendor approval policy that applies to teacher-facing tools, check with your coordinator; we're happy to provide documentation to support that review process if needed.
Will my students' information be stored or used by AI?
Lessi does not require you to enter student names, IDs, or any personally identifiable information. If you include student details in a prompt, that content is processed in real time to generate your output and is not retained, logged for review, or used to train any AI model. All processing happens within Microsoft Azure's US-based infrastructure. For school-wide deployments, we sign a Data Processing Agreement and operate as a school official under FERPA.
How is this different from using ChatGPT on my own?
General AI tools require you to write detailed prompts from scratch each time, with no awareness of IEP goals, MTSS tiers, or special education workflows. Lessi is purpose-built for special educators — the workflows, prompts, and output formats are structured around the tasks you actually do: IEP-aligned lesson planning, scaffolded activities, accommodations, and progress documentation. You're not re-inventing the wheel each session, and the outputs require far less editing to be classroom-ready.
How long does it take to get up and running?
Most teachers produce their first lesson set within 10–15 minutes of signing up. There's no installation, no integration with your school systems required, and no complex onboarding workflow. What happens if my school wants to buy a license later?
Your free account and any work you've done in it carries over — nothing is lost. When a school or district license is activated, your account is simply upgraded, and your principal or coordinator gains the team-level view. Many school pilots start with one or two teachers signing up on the free tier first, which is a perfectly normal path to a district conversation.
